The reality between Earth and his thoughts appeared to open up and proffer the seemingly offensive alternative to a correct choice. Being a quietly self-confessed man of considerable logic, even the hint of pondering such an about-face to that which he had always been, felt unsettling. Yet people have changed before, he reasoned.
But not always for the best.
His mind carried on in this fashion for some time, attacking and parrying arguments of the head and the heart with no real victor being declared, save the thievery of time. After a handful of fruitless minutes spent disgusted and sulking at a self-imposed incompetence for decision making, his eyes began to drift and his eyelids succumbed to gravity.
One clip, then the other, silently sprung open, untethering his warm suit from hugging the six-foot oak rectangle suspending his mind in place. A sensation of loss and freedom washed over him as he drifted through the vacant dark space that was usually coloured by his dreamstate.
This is strange, he thought.
Then again, all dreams were odd in one way or another. A very true thought, however during this boring revelation an imperceptible shape appeared to be felt right before him. It was the kind that was sighted briefly during a blink as an outline, then gone in the next. Inexplicably, the young dreamer knew there would be answers within this invisible neon mass. So, in whole-hearted pursuit of discovering what was always to be, the unknown adventurer leapt into that which to the naked eye; was nothing…
